My current Work In Progress is Banshee. For now, I have stalled on Nightingale Affair, but plan on returning to it once the excitement of Banshee dwindles.

Banshee takes place in New York City in 1880, in an alternate history where Elves and Goblins are real(read my post For Fairy, Queen and Country).  There is magic in the world, both beautiful and dangerous, and when magic really turns ugly, it is the job of Special Branch and Orton to stop it.

Orton Nevill Meskalyne has faced ancient gods and blood-cults, unlicensed vampires and drug-enhanced assassins, but nothing has prepared him for his latest charge, a ten year old girl. Lily worked hard to earn her place in a thief’s crew, fetching and toting and keeping an eye out for cops, but nothing she did seemed to earn the their approval. Orton finds her hiding while investigating a botched robbery, and senses something special about her. Lily is a mathematical and musical prodigy, able to reproduce any note or song or algorythm she encounters, no matter how difficult.  Then Orton’s investigation reveals Lily’s crew has released the most dangerous foe Orton has ever faced, a pack of ravenous Banshee.

Soon the Banshee turn the tables, killing Special Branch operatives and begin looking for the man who hunts them, Orton. It soon becomes clear that not only is Orton in danger, but the Banshee are hunting Lily as well, for she may be the key to stopping them, or unleashing them upon an unsuspecting city.

Filled with cliches, I know, Ill clean this up later.
